Marian Freistühler is a filmmaker based in Hamburg, Germany. He holds a degree in theatre and media science and studied film at the University of Fine Arts (HFBK) Hamburg, where he also worked as a tutor in the department of experimental film. His latest short ISLANDS IN THE CITY (D 2021, 23’) was selected in Clermont-Ferrand, Filmfest Dresden and Hofer Filmtage, among others. It got a Special Mention at Tel Aviv ISFF. Marian co-founded the production company Ohne Falsch Film and received the German Short Film Award Lola for producing ALTURAS (D 2020, 30’). He has been a programmer for the international competition at Short Film Festival Hamburg since 2020 and is a founding member of the film lab Analogfilmwerke Hamburg. Marian likes donkeys, octopus and airplanes.
